The following are answers to Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Phoenixville Area School District Athletic program:

1. What is Phoenixville Area School District’s philosophy on students-athletes’ participation in sports at the high school and middle school levels?

Student activities and athletics play an integral role in the educational process for students in the Phoenixville Area School District. Through a diverse number of program offerings, we seek to encourage students to participate in a broad spectrum of activities to foster personal growth and development.  Our coaches, club leaders and staff strive to build comprehensive programs designed to inspire and teach important life and leadership skills through competition and hard work. These programs create a positive and memorable experience for our students, alumni and community.  Phoenixville Phantoms win with humility, handle defeat with grace and act in a sportsman-like manner at all times. Our Activities & Athletics program embodies the spirit and qualities of our school, pays homage to our proud history and is an asset to our community.

2. Can a student-athlete play on more than one sports team at a time?

Student-athletes are permitted to play on more than one sports team at a time with the permission of each coach and provided that practices and game schedules do not overlap. Depending upon the student-athlete's position on a team, participation in a second sport may be arranged. All PASD coaches will do their best to accommodate each student athlete's needs.

3. Can a student-athlete play on a sports team and be involved in another extracurricular activity?

Student-athletes can participate in an extracurricular activity and still play on a sports team (e.g. marching band and football) with the permission of the coach and activity coordinator and provided that practices and activity and game schedules do not overlap. All PASD coaches and activity coordinators will do their best to accommodate each student-athlete's needs. .

Before a student-athlete may participate in PASD sports, he/she must have a completed PIAA CIPPE Form.

5. Why is my student-athlete missing from the online roster?

7. What is expected of my son or daughter, if he or she joins a sports team?

We are very proud of our student-athletes at Phoenixville!  Our student-athletes represent Phoenixville Area School District and the Phoenixville community by upholding the high standard of excellence established by all who wore the Purple and the White.  Phoenixville student-athletes are always in the public eye and their personal conduct will be subject to the scrutiny of their fellow students, fans, officials, opponents and the media.  They, therefore, have an obligation to serve as positive role models by subscribing to the following:

  • Showing respect for authority and property;
  • Maintaining academic eligibility and training rules;
  • Emphasizing the ideals of sportsmanship, loyalty, ethical conduct, and fair play;
  • Understanding that string to win is as important to success in athletics as it is in every facet of life.

Student-Athletes and Parents should review the full Parent-Athlete Handbook prior to participation in the PASD Athletic program.

8. What is expected of parents?

As parents, when your children become involved in the PASD Athletic program, you have a right to understand what expectations are being placed on your child. It is also important for parents to understand that coaches are professionals and will need to make judgment decisions based on what they believe to be in the best interest of all students involved.

Parents must encourage the student-athlete to communicate with the coaching staff.  A vast majority of communication lapses could easily be resolved if the student-athlete would first present these concerns to the coaching staff.

Student-Athletes and Parents should review the full Parent-Athlete Handbook prior to participation in the PASD Athletic program.
