Tom Marchegiano '50
Tom Marchegiano, PHS Class of 1950
Professional boxer, who began his training in the basement of Italian Club on the north side of Phoenixville. As an amateur, Tommy was the Philadelphia Diamond Belt Champion, East Coast Golden Gloves Champion, Easter Regional Olympic Champion, and an alternate on the 1952 Olympic Boxing Team. Tommy turned professional, while he was a senior at Phoenixville High School. Tommy trained in Florida with Angelo Dundee and went undefeated in his first 17 professional bouts, twice fighing on national TV on Gilette's "Friday Night at the Fights".
